The warehouse has been buzzing this week. Earlier today, as the last flatbed truck slowly pulled out of our factory gate, the entire batch of 124 tons of A106B seamless steel pipes, ranging from DN200 to DN400 in diameter, officially began its journey to the port. From there, they'll be shipped by sea to a project site in the Middle East.
What Makes This Batch Special
For those familiar with the industry, A106B is the ASTM standard for seamless carbon steel pipes used in high-temperature service - think boilers, superheaters, and petrochemical pipelines. Beyond the standard dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties, this order had one specific surface treatment requirement: the entire batch received a black lacquer coating on the exterior. This finish is primarily to enhance corrosion resistance during long ocean voyages and in high-salt environments. The coating is even in thickness and has a nice, uniform gloss. The customer can put the pipes straight into service upon arrival, without needing to do any additional surface treatment on-site.
From Crane to Container - Every Step Matters
I spent some time on the shop floor watching the loading process today - everything went smoothly. Three overhead cranes worked in tandem. Before lifting, our crew inspected the thread protectors on both ends of each pipe, then did a visual check of the entire surface to confirm there were no scratches or bare spots on the paint. Only after that did they start positioning the pipes onto the trucks.
Since the pipes are all between 6 and 12 meters long, special attention was given to load balancing and lashing. Rubber pads and wooden support beams were placed between each layer of pipes to prevent friction and impact during transit. Once the loading was complete, the entire shipment was secured with multiple layers of high-strength strapping bands and steel wire ropes - our guys went around and double-checked every single buckle before signing off.
This batch also went through third-party inspection before shipping, covering dimensions, wall thickness, tensile strength, and other key parameters - all passed with no issues. Our warehouse team has been busy over the past couple of days double-checking shipping marks, applying labels, and counting pieces, and all the shipping documents are now in order.
The shipment uses our standard export-grade packaging: plastic thread protectors on both ends, waterproof stretch film wrapped around the entire body, an outer layer of woven fabric, and finally steel bands for strapping. It should hold up just fine through rough seas and long-haul handling.
