What Is 1060 Carbon Steel Plate?

 

1060 Carbon Steel Plate

AISI 1060 is a medium-high carbon steel holding 0.55%~0.65% carbon, coded UNS G10600 and matching Europe's C60 grade. Unlike common mild steel such as A36, Q235 and 1020, it gains excellent surface hardness and wear resistance once quenched, tempered or surface-hardened.

Its easy machining and reliable hardening capability suit blanking, laser cutting and later heat treatment. We commonly supply it for wear liners, cutting blades, coil springs, agricultural fittings and other abrasion-resistant mechanical parts.

The cutting performance of 1060 is slightly worse than that of low carbon steel, but better than that of alloy steel. Turning and milling with cemented carbide tools are no problem, and drilling and tapping are not easy to get stuck. In terms of procurement, round steel, plate and flat steel are in stock, with short delivery period and cheaper price than materials such as 40Cr and 65Mn. 1060 is a very practical choice for making hundreds of wear-resistant parts every year.
